Caitlin Clark suffers apparent injury late in Fever win over Sun: Score, highlights
Caitlin Clark's Injury Scare Mars Fever's Hard-Fought Win Over Sun
The Indiana Fever secured a crucial 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to three games.
With just under 40 seconds left in the hard-fought contest, Clark delivered a sharp bounce pass to Kelsey Mitchell for a layup, but immediately after the play, she clutched the inside of her right thigh. Visibly distressed, she walked gingerly toward the opposing basket, resting her head against the stanchion before making her way to the bench, where she appeared to be holding back tears and covered her face with a towel.
Fever Head Coach Stephanie White offered a cautious update post-game, stating, "She just felt a little something in her groin, so we'll get it evaluated and see what happens from there."
Despite the injury scare, Clark still contributed 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in the win, even though she struggled with her shooting, going 4-of-14 from the field and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc.
The timing of this injury is particularly unfortunate, with the WNBA All-Star weekend just days away. Clark was not only voted an All-Star captain but was also scheduled to participate in the 3-point contest on Friday and start in Saturday's All-Star Game.
