Kelly Clarkson’s ex-assistant listed as Brandon Blackstock’s ‘loving partner’ in his obituary
An obituary for Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has revealed he was in a relationship with a woman named Brittney Marie Jones at the time of his death. Blackstock passed away at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with melanoma.
The obituary, which was published following his death on August 7, 2025, described Jones as Blackstock's "beautiful and loving partner in life and business." It noted that the couple had been building a life and companies together in Montana, including Headwaters Livestock Auction and The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman.
The revelation of this relationship has drawn attention because Brittney Marie Jones previously worked as a production assistant for Kelly Clarkson. According to her LinkedIn profile, Jones was a production assistant for Clarkson from 2016 to 2018. The same month Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, Jones transitioned to an executive assistant role for Blackstock's Montana ranch, V Bar B Cattle Co.
Jones's father, Larry Jones, also posted a heartfelt tribute to Blackstock on social media, calling him his daughter's "soulmate" and stating that he "considered him my son." This confirmed the close relationship between Blackstock and Jones.
Brandon Blackstock and Kelly Clarkson were married from 2013 to 2020 and shared two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander. Their divorce was finalized in 2022 after a lengthy legal battle. While Clarkson and Blackstock had a contentious split, a source told People magazine that she was "devastated for the kids" after learning of his illness and that she had "always tried to keep things classy" for their sake.
